In Wayanad and Idukki, Kerala’s Health Department has launched mobile cancer screening vans equipped with AI-powered diagnostic tools. These vans conduct breast, cervical, and oral cancer checks using portable devices and image-analysis software. Results are shared instantly with district hospitals, where specialists verify and follow up. So far, 8,000 women have been screened, with early signs detected in 300 cases. The initiative reduces diagnostic delays and makes cancer care accessible in hard-to-reach areas. The vans are staffed by female health workers, ensuring comfort and trust in conservative tribal communities. Kerala plans to integrate more vans and extend the service to the coastal belt.
